ace.jpg (59611 bytes)

I am Ace, I am a 15 year old wild caught male UMBY. I was taken from my home in the Jungle and ended up with people who thought that I was a decoration for their entertainment. I was in a back room and not socialized for 10 years and survived on a diet of uncooked corn on the cob and uncooked pasta. 2 months ago my owners decided that I was not worth keeping (I bit and hissed
when ever they came near me). They called an avian vet in our town and the vet called some nice people who understand and love umbies. These new people came and visited me and shortly after took me home. They gave me a beautiful cage (A REALLY BIG ONE) and they respected my space and slowly over time I realized I could trust them and now I am part of the flock and we cuddle and
we go out for explores in the car and they feed me wonderful food and gave me medicine for some problems that I had. I love my new home and I even get showers 3 times a week with my mom. But best of all I HAVE A NEW BROTHER (I thought I was the only one like me) his name is Bailey. He is the 10 year old umby sitting in the tree under the Bailey section of the gallery.

Life is soooo good now

AlbaOutside3.jpg (15058 bytes)

My name is Alba, I'm a big Umbrella boy of 737 grams. I was hatched in Sweden 3/17/90 and soon after moved to Finland where I became the owner of my current family. Ever since I have kept them in strict order, despite their firm confidence of the opposite. I am truly an international bird, having lived in Finland, France and nowadays in North Carolina, USA.  If you wanna know about planes, I'm the expert. I even missed a plane once when I moved to the States and spent a night in a hotel room with my youngest human, Sanna, who was with me. It was kinda fun, I slept peacefully on the back of a chair.  I was a good flier up until 1998 when I was suddenly forced to give up my flight permit and they clipped my wings. I assure you I did my very best to escape the horrible destiny, but now I'm rather used to it and love to go outside. I'm one of those birds that let my people know I don't like it alone by screaming whenever I'm left alone and occasionally plucking feathers, despite their best efforts to discourage this behavior. I never plucked feathers until a year ago, though, so maybe I can still change my mind. Otherwise I'm a fine example of a cuddly teddy-bear-cockatoo, ruler of my own little kingdom. You can email me at sannah@earthlink.net

amanda.jpg (7531 bytes) Amanda is a 10 Year old Triton, I met her about a year ago and brought her home about 6 months ago. Amanda spent her first nine (9) years in an aviary with lots of other birds. Then she spent about a year in a pet shop on consignment where I found her. She is a great bird, but doesn't really appreciate any females near me. I am a male. Is my social life with human females at an end?   Sleepless in Rochester, NY (aka Mike)

gsc2amber.jpg (33973 bytes) My name is Amber, I am a GSC2, and in case there is any doubt, I am in charge in this house.  What?  You don't believe me?  You haven't been talking to that M2, Jasper, have you?  Don't believe anything he tells you.  He may be bigger, but Women rule!

Here's Angel, an 8 year old (maybe?) female (maybe?) Goffins 'Too (for sure!) whom her mom and dad, Cindy and Kevin, found through an ad in the newspaper. Her favorite color is lilac, her favorite person is her dad, her favorite activities are shredding anything, tug-a-war, and nesting on her people's hands. Angel's mom told an interesting story about her: "when we went to go meet her, it turns out that her owner was a guitarist. The funny thing about it was that he had played in a band which I had a pre-release second hand copy of the one and only album they ever did. I had been looking for the final release of their album with no luck! He threw in a copy of the CD for free with Angel!"

angel.jpg (39954 bytes)

This is our precious Angel.  She was hatched June 10, 1999.  We had gone to look at a Goffin and after looking around decided not to get a bird from this place because of feelings we had regarding the breeder.  As we turned to leave Angel reached out to me and grabbed hold my shirt.  It was instant love.  She was quite young, 2 mos, when we brought her home and we didn't even have a cage for her.  She slept in a laundry basket the first three days.  She has been a constant source of enjoyment.  Such a loving and darling love.  I can't believe how a feathered friend can get so close, snuggle, and show love the way she does.  Our home has been a much brighter place with our Angel.  Even our 15 year old son has fallen hopelessly in love with her and
she with him.  It is a constant source of amazement to me how the connection between our darling Angel and our family came about.  It was meant to be!!

Annabelle6.jpg (32700 bytes)

My name is Annabelle and I'm a Moluccan Cockatoo. I hatched May 29, 1999. I share a mom, with my big brother Casper who is an umbrella cockatoo. Right now I'm a baby bird but I feel like a very big girl. I stand tall and flap my wings. I also chatter when mom comes into the room and raise my crest to show her how pretty I am. I'm still clumsy and just learning to eat on my own but I still think I'm a big girl!

Hi, I'm Annie (short for Chyanne). Mom named me Chyanne because when she got me I was soooo shy (not anymore!!) I think I am 3 years old now but didn't come live with mom and dad (Gloria and Mike) until I was 2 (I think). My doctor (I love him!) says he's pretty sure I'm a girl but mom doesn't really care so she didn't have me sexed (what is sexed?) I was a Christmas present from Dad to mom and came to her very sick. I was neglected and I chewed off all my pretty wing and tail feathers. All I got to eat was seeds so mom had a hard time changing my diet but now I eat stuff thats good for me (and I still get seeds on week-ends!). All my feathers are growing back and I am so happy, I laugh and jump around and kiss mommy alot!  Mom says I am beautiful and I agree.......I am beautiful!  I live with Pebbles the Sun Conure (she's pretty but not beautiful) , Twinkie-Dink the Cockatiel (she's kinda bossy) and a big ugly creature that makes all kinds of noise when the mailman comes! I think it's a DOG!  Her name is dog-gone-it Sassy.  She tries to get all the peanuts from Daddy when he's watching TV so I BITE her on her tail!!  MY PEANUTS!!  Speaking of which..............GOTTA GO!! I SMELL PEANUTS!

athena.jpg (95954 bytes)

athena2.jpg (87717 bytes)

Meet Athena. She came to me through a friend of a local bird club. Her other family had several kids, many animals and hectic schedules. She had started plucking itself and after visits to the vet and doing all they could for her, they were still concerned that she needed something else. So, they made a very loving decision, and placed her with me, hoping new and quieter environment, more attention, etc would help. They raised her from a hatchling, so they were
very attached. She still rubs and picks a little on her chest and she has pulled out one broken tail feather, but so far, nothing major.
She has adapted well to our family. We can hold her and pet her. She loves leaning over for you to scritch  her neck. She is a wonderful addition to our family and already jealous of my Quaker. She lets us know if we spend too much time with him!

Bailey, 5/98 I am Bailey, a 15 month old Goffin's Cockatoo. I live with my human Mommy, Daddy, and sister and two other bird children. My human family came and visited me every week from the day I was hatched (January 18, 1996). They brought me home when I was 13 weeks old. My Grammy says my Mommy spoils me since I lost a toe last fall. When my family went on vacation I stayed at a birdsitter who had a bigger Cockatoo that bit me. But I used it to my advantage. I still get baby food. He He. All I have to do is whine and Mommy melts. My Mommy took this picture of me with her new camera.

bailey.jpg (49618 bytes)

bailey2.jpg (30327 bytes)

Hello, my name is Bailey and I am 10 years old. I live with my Mom and dad and am the center of their universe. They have been my family for 5 years. I was very scared and sad when I came to live with them because I had been in at least 3 homes by the time they adopted me (I am not certain if their were more, I was so young).
I know that Mom and dad love me because they tell me so all of the time and they never leave me alone.  I travel in the car with them most of the time when they go some where, even to local restaurants where there is outdoor seating. Every one in our town knows me and treats me like a young prince. My Mom is a college student and my dad works out of our house so the only time I am in one of my cages is when I go to sleep at night. Life is sooooo good.

Betty & Barney are a proven pair of Goffins that live with Pam.  They haven't been with us long enough to produce any babies yet.

                beaker.jpg (15970 bytes) beaker2.jpg (12573 bytes)
Hi! My name is Beaker and I'm a Moluccan Cockatoo. My hatch day is Jan. 7th 1998. Please remind my Daddy as I am expecting a bunch of new toys for my first hatch day! I know a few phrases, namely "Hello", "Hello Beaker", and "I love you". My Daddy wanted me to learn "I love you Greg" but I decided to say "I love you Beaker" instead. I have a lot of fun watching movies with Greg, listening to music, riding around on his shoulder when we go to visit friends and chewing chewing chewing chewing on anything I can wrap my beak around. I recently destroyed a nice lampshade. I just had to know where the light was coming from.  Greg should have been paying more attention to me anyway! I can make a lot of noise when I want to but it doesn't bother Greg. He just laughs at the way my feathers ruffle up all over while I'm marching around wailing at the top of my lungs. I get bored screaming pretty quickly anyway. Greg has a digital camera and is constantly flashing the annoying thing at me. He puts the pictures up on the web here if you would like to see some more of me.

beeper.jpg (34962 bytes)

I have 2 Cockatoos. This is Beeper, a Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo female. My other cockatoo is Ruggles, a male Umbrella. They spend all their time with Bill, who takes them wherever he goes except shopping. Beeper is the more independent of the pair. She can take minimal cuddling but prefers to just be an affectionate bird. She tolerates Ruggles to a point. When she is annoyed by Ruggles, she will fly off to her stand or bite his toenails. She is 2 years old now and quite a lady.

belle3.jpg (37773 bytes)

Belle2.jpg (53337 bytes)

belle.jpg (71617 bytes)

Belle, who calls herself Bellie, is four years old, hatched 8/28/95. It isn't certain that she is in fact not a little boy. Our nickname for her is Bellie-brat, and you can sorta see why. She came to us at the age of two, and our life hasn't been the same since. She is friendly with everyone, especially strangers, who she greets with a sweet childlike "Hi-eeee!" Belles' favorite pastime is seeing how many toys, wood splinters, and beans she can hide in her feathers.

Hi everyone, my name is Bejue.  I'm a 6 year old, female Moluccan Cockatoo.  My Mommy is Scarlett.  Her husband, Harold, is my favorite person.  I wish he would pet me all day.  Mommy tells everyone I'm the sweetest bird, and she loves me even though I don't talk.  I can scream and also honk like a goose, but I don't do it a lot or very loud.  I was rescued a year and a half ago from a dark basement where I was kept with a lot of other birds.  My last Mommy acted like she hated to sell me, but my now Mommy said she just didn't take very good care of me.  I wasn't nearly as happy then as I am now.  When I first came to live with my new family, I would sit around for hours with a blank, empty stare and didn't even know what toys where for.  Now I have a good, loving home to call my own.  This new swing is one of my favorite places to be.  I eat some  pellets, LOVE my veggies and fruit, and recently started to eat a seed mixture.  Of course I have my favorite color and size of pellet and favorites out of the seed mixture and sling the rest on the floor.  I live with 4 cats, 2 dogs and several other birdies, but I don't like to socialize with them and whine when they get lovin' instead of me.  I guess you could say I'm a little spoiled now.

Bejue.jpg (86250 bytes)

Hi I am Bhakti, my name means "devoted one" in a language called Sanskrit.  I am 9 months old and my hatchday is January 29.  I have a little disability cause I have two messed up toes on one foot but that's ok cause my mom has a disability to.  I live with my mom Stephanie, dad, a couple of those furry cat things and a dog.  The first picture is of me letting my mom know who's boss, the second is of me after my mom let me know who was boss.  It seems to me that I fall somewhere below mom and dad and above the furry things as far as pecking order.  My favorite food is cantaloupe and broccoli, but I just hate bananas.  My mom takes really good care of me, but I am a really big klutz.  I think it is because I have trouble gripping things because of my toes.  But anyway I am always hurting myself, and sometimes mom and I feel like we are living at the vets.  I am learning to say lots of words.  Right now I say "Hi Bhakti, hi guys, I want out, go potty (so embarrassing), good morning, night night, and hey".  I am working on knock it off, my dad says I almost have it.  Well that's all about me.  Just remember Too's rock!

Blanca, a Moluccan 'Too, came to her mom and dad, Alexanne and Michael, as a rescue about 7 months ago. She is a real sweetheart and totally in love with her dad, and also with Jo (Jazmin's mom). She has gone from being terrified of Alexanne to daily kisses and some snuggles and cuddles now. She still plucks and we are working on that now with the vet.

Bo1.jpg (6590 bytes)

This is Bo aka RainBo. He (DNA male U2) was named by his 5 yr old human sister after we read the poem "How the Cockatoo Gave Color to the World". He is 5 months old as of 9/98. He is starting to talk a little although my wife and I disagree what he is saying. I say he is saying "Hi Bo" she swears it is "Hello", we'll see as time goes on. His favorite activity, of course, is making toothpicks out of 2X2 pine. He really likes it if I drill some holes in it first to help him get started. He has yet to do anything that would qualify him to join the M&B, but he has high hopes!Bo2.jpg (6188 bytes)

bosco.jpg (12104 bytes) Baby Bosco was born June 6, 1997.  This is a picture of him on his first birthday.  On this particular night, he was feeling creative and asked for a "b & w, artistic" photograph.

Why the name, Bosco, you ask......Any true Seinfeld fan would know!

brandy.JPG (65057 bytes) Brandy was hatched 1-17-00. She is from Flordia. She arrived by plane at 6 weeks old with a good friend of mine who was there on a trip. After two long years of reading up on U2's to be sure she would fit into our life, and life with two spoiled Congo Greys, are a dream came true. Brandy was
handfed by me, her Mom Sheryl till the age of 6 months. What a big girl she is at 6 months old and 486 grams! She is funny, playful, and the joy of my
husband Ken and my life. She lives in a huge Macaw size cage with lots of toys and a nice big playstand. I'm full time Mom and also breeder of Amazon
parrots so Brandy is out of her cage all day and with Mom. Her favorite pastime is to not get caught  chewing mom's coffee table! But heck, Mom wants
a new one anyways. Thank you Tooville for a great place to meet other TOO
people. Sheryl, Ken, Brandy

Brittany 5/97 Hi!! My name is Brittany, and I'm a male (yes, I am a boy) Moluccan 'Too. I'm 5 years old, and a pretty handsome fella, don't you think? Sure wish mom (Rhonda's her name) would hurry and serve up some grub!

This is Buddy a 11 year old LSC who is a rescue, was beaten by a man,  left in a dark room and only ate cheap seeds.  She was 100 grams under weight.  Today Buddy is my angel. Her weight is perfect she eats all kinds of food and doesn' t bite me. For she is my Angel.

Buffy, 6/97 Buffy, 9/97 Meet Buffy, a Citron-Crested 'Too who will be 2 years old on Aug. 8, 1997. Buffy maintains that he is a nice jewish bird, loving klezmer music and learning a few words of Hebrew. He is very talkative, with a large and steadily-growing vocabulary which includes many orders to his "mommy". He rarely screams or squawks. He loves to play catch, and will probably get a basketball and hoop for his birthday! If there is an interested citron out there, Buffy would enjoy having a pen pal. Send your e-mail here.

Meet Bugsy, he is a five year old umbrella cockatoo. I adopted him in Jan of 2000. He loves cats and tries to get them to come to his cage and play!  He also plays endlessly with wooden balls.  We also share our home with a Goffin Too, Jazz.  Corinna

This is Casper (below), and Sally (above). See Sally's story with her photo in the "S" section of this album. Casper and Sally are the ringleaders in Steve S.' house. Casper is a 13 year old Goffins 'Too who makes up for his "punk" appearance (feather-plucker) with a jester-like personality. Both 'Too's are self-proclaimed cannibals, love to go on hikes, and won't let go of Elvis...

Casper, 4/97 casper.jpg (24664 bytes)

casper2.jpg (26359 bytes)

This is Casper. He hatched on Mar 3 1995. We adopted him at 4 months of age. He grew up to be 625gms and over 19" tall. His favorite phrase to say is "rock'n roll" and he'll sway back and forth and sing. He says many things including "I love you", " I can fly" and has a wonderful laugh. He *thinks* he can sing also and has often made up songs....he's very off key but doesn't seem to care. He's traveled up and down the east coast twice, cross country once and has taken several short trips. When we travel he says "hit the road". He does some tricks and will do anything for a pinenut or a little plain yogurt.

Casper has had some health problems to overcome. At 2 1/2 yrs. of age he was diagnosed with a slight kidney density when we found out he'd ingested a piece of metal and about a year later with aspergillosis. Because of a good varied whole food diet, he's recovered well and his kidney's have even improved. He never showed signs of illness with any of this and his Dr. has always said he's the healthiest looking sick bird she's ever seen. Since his fourth birthday however, he's been extremely healthy. He was also helped by Dr.Alicia McWatters who did what several vets couldn't.

caspcage.jpg (34353 bytes)

Casper's cage was built by his dad. When he started his adolescence at 3 yrs.old (in a big way and I was told that he's a "super" 'too) we built him the largest cage we could, it's slotted acrylic. It's living area is 3'x5'x4' tall.

caspheidi.jpg (20555 bytes)

He had an eclectus sister who fell in love with someone else so has left. Casper now shares the house with 2 Hawkheads and 2 cockatiels.

Caesar on shoulder.jpg (42518 bytes)

Caesar profile.jpg (39718 bytes)

Meet Caeser! She is about 2 years old and is quite a talker.  Not very big but she is 200% atta-tood. She loves to ride on Charlie's shoulder in hopes of a scritch or a drink of ANYTHING.  She says things like Go, Caesar, GO! and hello.  Step-brothers Dakota (M2) and Chomper (T2) are adjusting.....

Hi, My name is CeeBee, which stands for all the names my family loved for me but couldn't make up thier minds. Cuddly Birdie, Cotton Ball, Crazy Bird, Cuddle Butt, and more. I get called CeeBee and all the others too, poor me. I'm a 7 month old Umbrella Cockatoo, but I rather think im half human too. My
mommy and daddy are trying to help me learn how to be more birdie, less person, but I keep fighting.

I was rescued by my parents, and boy have I turned their lives upside down! I live in Colorado, and this weather confuses me. I love being outside, but I don't like the cold at all! I still like to have my meals handfed to me, but I am learning to eat my own foods too, though its most fun to toss my pellets at the dogs. I live with my mommy, daddy, two human brothers, three dogs (one of whom is in love with
me), a pair of fuzzy guys I love to chase (mom says they are cats and that I have to stop chasing them), an Indian Ringneck who I want to bite cuz she's with mommy more than I am, a Alex Ringneck who I'm becoming buddies with, and a buncha cockatiels who I tease by raising my huge crest when they raise
their little ones. What fun! My daddy has some huge reptiles too, but Im not allowed to go in their room at all, what a meanie!

I am so snuggly and cuddly, but I love to play too. Chase the toy is a great game, and I adore chewing up one of my human brothers toy cars, its ok, he sets aside ones just for me to play with. I don't scream much except when I'm happy as can be, but I do whine a lot. Someday I'll make mommy realize that I have to eat out of that syringe for life!

charley.jpg (50945 bytes)

This is Charlene, better known as Charley.  She is six years old and a very sassy young lady.  She loves to sing, tootle, dance, and  also loves icecream, popcicles, and ice.   I'm her mom and I try to feed her balanced meals but my daughter has corrupted her.

Charley Bird is a Medium Sulfur Crested (MSC) or Elenora (E2) Cockatoo and resides with Lupe. The first picture shows how "rumpled" Charley looked when I first met him. He was in the care of someone who had little knowledge of the care, feeding and intelligence of parrots, let alone Cockatoos. Charley had started to pluck and barber his chest & wing/shoulder feathers and was apparently doing a lot of screaming. He ended up going back to his first home, but they still needed to find him another home. So on February 8, 2001 Charley Bird (formerly Chicken Bird) came home to Lupe's Ark. His Avian vet check & lab work showed him to be healthy so we hoped the feather problems were due to stress.

As you can see by the 2nd picture, Charley Bird looks wonderful a year later! I am so proud of him. He only needed a good diet, toys and lots of love to stop feather  plucking and barbering.  He loves to play and has a wide variety of toys to challenge that brain of his. He loves bananas, Fuji apples, carrots, broccoli, pasta, scrambled eggs and pizza crust along with his regular seed/pellet mix. He travels well in his HOBO carrier and loves music from the 50's and 60's. He is smart and he is loved! And...he is Home!

chiclet.jpg (23291 bytes)    chiclet2.jpg (29724 bytes)
Chiclet was hatched on Feb.11,1999.  He loves to show off his citron crest when someone says "Who's a pretty bird". Yes , he's totally spoiled by his dad, Dan.

Chomper.jpg (27499 bytes)

  Chomper2.jpg (24652 bytes)
Chomper is an 8 year old Triton.  We have other birds, too - a tiel (Gus), keet (Hotfoot), and a Quaker (Mickey).  We live in central Texas.  Chomper's favorite sports are saying hi to everyone and seeing if they (especially my husband) are within chomping distance.  He also loves to yell at the neighbors and say "Look at Meeeee" while performing a foot stomping spread eagle display for everyone to see.  Quite a sight to see.

Cinco de Mayo, 1/98 Cinco De Mayo is a male goffin, or goofin as we refer to him, residing with Veronica and Bruce. He is quite the adventurer, having had his head sucked into the vacuum cleaner, bitten through an electrical cord and removing a quick link from a toy and screwing onto his toe (all without injury, fortunately). He is very friendly and outgoing and is the most forgiving bird you can imagine. Nothing phases Cinco - he is always ready for a new adventure! He was born on May 5, 1989 and we have owned him since he was 3 months old. See his friend, Crystal, below.

clarence.jpg (31687 bytes)

This is our 2yr old Umbrella cockatoo, whose name is Clarence. He doesn't talk to much, but he is trying hard, but he is so very intelligent. We can actually see him thinking, trying to work things out. He has managed to open 2 different padlocks on his cage, we are now on the third one.

He is a very fussy eater and would prefer human food to anything else, if he were allowed to have it.  He can be very loud in the mornings and at night and when he wants something.

Clarence does not like children too much, but all our children love him as well as everyone who meets him. We often take him out with us on a harness and lead and he just loves to come with us around the local shops and likes to meet different people.

Cody.jpg (22691 bytes)

Hi there, my name is Cody, short for Codena, after my mom found out I was a girl. I was hatched 6/15/96 in Kansas. My favorite foods are cheese, almonds, and anything that is probably not to good for me. I am pretty spoiled, thanks to my mom. I think I am a pretty good bird. My only bad habit ( so far ) is to scatter my seed EVERYWHERE! My mom doesn't like that. She's just no fun! The more she tells STOP IT the more I do it. I also have a brother named Bob. He is a budgie (what kind of a name is that?) I would like to bite his little head off, but mom keeps us away from each other. We also have this big furry thing (cat) running around that I just love to chase, but mom yells at me for that too. One of these days I hope to be the ONLY ONE!!

Cotonnelle is a 8-month old Goffin (8/02).  She's a sweetheart and loves to play, to be cuddled and she's already saying a few words and repeats everything we are saying, she's really funny.  Cottonelle shares her home with Julie M.

Cricket & Herman

Herman and Cricket were part of a large group of birds rescued from a
collector in the summer of 2000 in Minnesota by Midwest Avian Adoption &
Rescue Services, Inc. (MAARS) http://www.maars.org

I fell in love with these two sweeties while I was helping care for the
rescued birds.  I fostered both birds in my home to make sure we would get
along before I adopted them in September 2000.

Herman is over 13 years old and assumed to be wild caught.  He is phobic and
plucks his feathers.  I am working with him to try to help him overcome his
fears.  It is a slow process, but we are making some progress.  Herman will
enter and leave his cage when he is told but he cannot stand being touched
by people.  He is good friends with Cricket and loves to preen with her.

Cricket is at least 7 years old.  Her personality is almost the exact
opposite of Herman.  She is very affectionate and loves to be held and
cuddled.

You can see more of these two and the rest of my flock at
http://members.NBCi.com/birdbuddies/index.html

Crystal, 1/98 Crystal is a male Citron who was supposed to be Cinco de Mayo's friend. Crystal was born about April 18, 1989 - we have owned him since he was 3 years old. Crystal regularly destroys the home of Veronica and Bruce by ripping chunks out of the hardwood floors and molding, stripping wallpaper and plaster, and removing what he can of the Oriental rug and furniture. His latest project is removing the linoleum from the kitchen floor. Crystal is also quite the jogger, racing through the house and up and down the stairs to find new home "improvement" projects.

"I AM an Angel....Really!"

Hi everyone. My name is Mr. Cujo Cockatoo Birdy, Cujo for short and I sure am glad to be included here with all you other fine looking ‘Toos...maybe I can even get myself a girlfriend? I am almost six, so I think it’s time! As you can see from my pictures, I’m a strapping, big boy M2, but I also have a sensitive side...Daddy says that’s important. I live with my Mamma and Daddy and big sister Jessica, in Ontario, Canada. Mamma always says that I have a surprisingly big vocabulary...like that’s a bad thing or something, but hey, the way I look at, a simple - ’ I Love You’ or ‘Mamma, you’re a pretty girl’ - just seems to make my human so happy that I figure it’s the least that I can do...and besides, Daddy also says that sweet talkin to the ladies, is never a bad idea! I hope to have lots of friends here in ‘TooVille cause I hear it’s a pretty special place!

My name is Daisy!   I am a Citron Cockatoo.  My hatch date was April 25, 1998.  I lived with another family for 5 months and now I live with some "Real Bird Lovers". I love to cuddle!  I will lift my wing for an armpit scratch, "That feels sooo.. good!".  I am going to be very happy with my new family.  I have alot of toys and other birds to play with, but the best part is I have two non feathered sisters that love to cuddle me! Thanks Kylee and Laura, you're SUPER! (I had to slip that in!)

Daisy3.jpg (19551 bytes) This is Daisy, a 5 year old U2. We adopted her in October 1998. I was at the Costa Mesa Bird Expo looking for toys for my tiel and sun conure. As I walked down one of the rows I saw her jump from her stand and make a break for it on foot. I scooped her up and returned her to the breeder. She asked if I was interested in purchasing her. "No thanks, I'm here for toys". A little while later I passed by and stopped to see how she was doing. I picked her up and held her for a while, (1st step to 'too ownership). After about 40 minutes of 'too snuggles, and the breeder telling me her sad history, I was a goner. I left with a big white bird. Needless to say my sun conure was not impressed with his new "toy".

This is Dancer, a male Goffin's 'too who is 20 years old and owns Adrienne. For Dancer, anything within beak reach is considered a toy! He performs many tricks: waving with one foot, rolling over, tumblesaults, swinging off hands, catch, ringing the bell on cue, stick 'em up, going goodnight, being an eagle, give me five (well, four), and playing dead.

Sometimes you have to be clever when you want to take a picture of your 'too that thinks the camera is a toy! (photo taken in the bathroom mirror)

Hi, my name is Desdemona.  Dezy for short.  I have a pet human named Roger and a black-headed caique who helps pay the bills.  My human is really fun. Ever since I first laid eyes on him, I can't imagine how I ever got along without him.  Even though humans aren't endangered species, I think it might be cool to breed Roger.  Have any of you 'toos out there tried this?  What is a human's temperament like during the breeding season?  Do they remain the loving pets that they were before?  Also, how hard are baby human's to wean?  Uh-oh...I need to go play with Roger. (Aren't you pet humans just too much fun?)  Here's a picture of my new brother, Toucan Tango...what's up with that beakie?  toucantango.JPG (29685 bytes)

doc1.jpg (6661 bytes) doc2.jpg (6869 bytes) doc3.jpg (3049 bytes)
Hi! I am Doc Holliday. Troy and Joanie are my favorite people in the whole wide world. I like all the rest of the people except those between 2' and 5'. All those little ones, you can have. They make me nervous.

I like to sit on Troy's foot while he reads all his books. When Joanie asks me if I want to crawl under the covers while she watches TV, I hop off my perch and snuggle right next to her. Then she pets me until the movie is over.

Troy had me shipped from a breeder in Florida when I was only 7 weeks old. I had to travel by plane because I had just a bunch of pin feathers and not one flight feather yet. I made sure it took a very long time to wean me so Troy and I could really bond like SuperGlue. I was born in April 1994 - that makes me 4 years old now - and I didn't completely wean until November!

We have this dog named Buster and I like to torment him. I stare him down and make him submit to my superiority. He rolls over on his back and I like to try to grab his long snout when he is in this very vulnerable position - but he never lets me. He pops up and we chase each other around the living room until someone gets too rambunctious. That's when they call me off Buster and everything has to cool down a bit before we get to play again.

Well, I have to get back to chewing down the kitchen table legs. Just when I think I have them even, the table rocks a bit and I have to start all over again.

Doogie.jpg (55711 bytes)

Doogie is our (Marilyn's) Goffin youngster, hatched on August 27th, 1998.  We got him at age 7 months from a nearby Birds-Only pet shop where he "snagged" my sleeve while I was getting my canary seed.  I asked the sales girl what kind of a "parrot" he was, since his crest was invisible, and it went from there.  He is the ruler of the roost and the tushy-shakin' duck of the soak-me-til-I'm-drowned spray bottle!  He says "Hello", but only when he feels like it.  His favorite position is laying on his back on top of the covers of the bed, feet dangling uselessly in the air, wings laid out to the sides to prop him from rolling while I rub under his chin, scratch his belly, or massage his toes.  He just knows that the sole reason humans were put on this earth is to carry birds about, on their backs, and pick up after them

dorie.jpg (28492 bytes)

Meet Dorie! We are really not sure where she originated.  She was rescued by Pam just before Christmas 1998.  She was brought into a wholesaler along with a male.  I was told that she and the male did not get along, but that she was definitely a breeder and semi tame. Boy, was he ever wrong.  She has some really messed up feathers, In fact all the flight feathers on both wings were broken or chewed off and as the new feathers are coming in you can see stress bars on them.  She was a little down on weight when I got her, but ate everything put in front of her. During the month that she was with me, I never caged her but let her live on the playgym.  Would you believe she only once got down from there!!!!!!! Amazing.  When I first brought her home she was really stressed out and did not want anyone to come near her especially if you were a male or a teenager. But with my husband's strong belief that food is the way to anyone's heart, he started hand feeding her off his plate and every few minutes whenever he was in the kitchen.  It didn't take long for us to win her over.  In no time she was giving me kisses.  I knew then that she was not to be used as a breeder, but would blossom with the tender loving care of just the right family.  So, started the search.  After weeks of advertising her and checking people out, Joe and Nicole came to see her and she liked them.  She is doing wonderfully well in their home.  I honestly believe that in six months, Dorie will have beautiful feathers and not be one bit the same as when I took her home just a couple of days before Christmas.   Talk about a happy ending.  By the way, She now weighs 774 grams.  Not bad for a poor baby.

Duncan is my name and cuddling is my game! I am my parents (Linda & Mike) new baby. My hatch date was March 12/99. I have 1 brother Walter (Cockatiel) and 2 sisters (a Tervuren and a Cocker).  My parents snuggle me every morning and feed me all kinds of goodies. I am out of my cage most of the day and my dad takes me outside while he does his lawn work, (mom KISSES me all the time) and I visit a Convalescent home every week.  Life is just "TOO" grand!

Hi, my name is Dusty and I am a one-year old rose-breasted 'too.  I live in Houston, Texas, most of the year but part of the time I live on Lake Hamilton, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where this picture of me on my travel cage was taken.  My people are Sue and Pat, and I have a dachshund named Cassie.  Sue and Pat don't know whether I am a boy or a girl yet but I think they will eventually figure it out.  They didn't think I was supposed to be a very talkative bird.  Boy, were they surprised!  My favorite word is "Cassie" but I also say a few other things like "What  'you doing?" "come on," "come here," and "pretty, pretty bird."  The thing that really knocks them out though, is when I run across the floor and throw my wings in the air and shout "Whoo, Hook'em Horns."  Pat graduated the University of Texas and they are both big fans.  They laugh like crazy and I do too, and then I shout "rock and roll," and they laugh some more.   When Sue and Pat come home from work in the afternoons, Cassie and I get really excited and we sing a duet to celebrate.  That Cassie really can howl! My people talk about something called ear plugs, but I can't imagine why. 5/99

toolady1.jpg (4620 bytes) toolady2.jpg (15457 bytes) Hi, my name is Dust Bunny and I am 8 months old. I live with my mom, dad, 2 Rottweilers, a Scarlet Macaw and a CAT! My mommy says that I am the sweetest little devil she's ever met. She tells everyone that I'm a spoiled brat. Is that the reason I still get one warm feeding before bedtime???

Emily2.jpg (35098 bytes)

I am so happy to be able to add our Beautiful Emily to the TooVille
family album.  Emily is a sweet girl that we saved with, the help of
Larry G. and Karen R., from a pet shop in Seattle area.  She has had a
traumatic life and came to us battered and a self mutilator.  Although she
still chews holes in her back, she is the sweetest, most loveable,
little bird I have ever run across.  She enjoys hugs and skritches and
eats quite well now that we have managed to get her off her seed diet.
I feel we are so privileged to have her as an addition to our home!

ernie.jpg (95651 bytes)

This is Ernie my 18 year old U2, he was once a breeder then a rescue bird. It has been a lot of hard work to get him to trust me, but after 8 months of work he will finally come to me for "hugs" when he is on his cage. This picture was taken on our back porch, we live in Anchorage, Alaska so days outside for the birds are rare and very much
enjoyed. Our family consists of myself, my very understanding and patient husband Jim, an 8 yo Akita "Splash", 2 cats "Edgar and Eddie", an 18 mo African Grey "Moose" and Ernie. He is fitting in wonderfully now, and has brought much joy to my life.

frances.jpg (92695 bytes)

Meet Frances.   She is a 5 year old Moluccan Cockatoo.    I'm very lucky to have her.  Besides being  an extremely cuddly bird, she is not a screamer.  I  currently live in an apartment building, and in 3 years  we haven't received one complaint. Please visit our website where you can read more about Frances and see more pictures.

freddie.JPG (22292 bytes)

My  name is Freddie Tooger and I am a marvelous male Moluccan 'too.  I am 10 yrs. old and used to live with a man who kept me covered nearly all the time.  I think that's when I plucked the feathers off my legs.  I guess I did it so many times that they will never grow back.   This was only one of the places I used to be before coming to live with Robin and Phillip FOREVER and EVER.

It has been nearly one year since I came to stay with them and I have surely changed a LOT!  For the better that is.  When I first came here I liked to cuddle but when I caught myself enjoying it, I would suddenly remember how dangerous it is to trust and then I would bite...really hard!  It has taken a long time and a lot of patience but those days are gone.  I am now a very happy bird.

I talk a lot and call, "MAMA!!", anytime she gets out of my sight.   Sometimes I even call her Mama-Bird.  Mama is a working artist and often paints murals.  Sometimes I get to go with her and 'supervise'.  Only problem is that she doesn't get much painting done 'cause I need a LOT of scritching and cuddling.   We also run a breeding and training farm for Arabian horses and the barn is my most favorite place in the world.  Who would believe that a horse can give butterfly kisses to a 'too?  My favorite activity is helping Mom with the laundry.  I stand on the washing machine and toss the clothes is as she tosses them to me from the hamper.  We're quite a team.  Someday we are going to make a video and send it to a detergent company and be famous!  So just watch out for me, Freddie, one of these days while you are watching your favorite show.  I'll be the one pitching the socks and displaying my beautiful crest while laughing and hopping.

Beaky kisses and wing hugs to all......Freddie Tooger,  aka Punky Rooster

P.S.  does anybody know how to knit a guy some trousers?  My drumsticks are f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g!

This is Frisco. He is an M2, hatched on 6 January 1997. In the picture to the right he is 7 1/2 months old. He owns his ever faithful servants Mike & Cathy M. This is their first bird experience, but then, this is Frisco's first people experience so things seem to be going nicely. You can clearly see that he is a heart stealer. Even though he is young, he knows how to destroy a very large wood, leather and raw hide chew toy in three days. He can also unscrew quicklinks very quickly. He chuckles to us and is an expert cuddler. If we can keep him from getting too much advice from Uncle Dancer, a happy and long life is expected by all.

Hello, my name is Frosty, and I'm an 18 month old male Umbrella 'Too. I am the proud owner of Lori and Gary and I fulfill their every desire. I am also master of Buster, the Cocker Spaniel. I bark better and louder than him, and chase tennis balls in the yard. Mariah, my little brother, the Indian ring-necked, does most of the talking. I say the important things like "Hey, Lori", and "Hi Frosty"! I have the most evil cackle you can imagine. I laughed really hard one day when I dismantled the entire shower curtain, sending it into the bathtub. Boy, did I think that was funny standing up on the curtain rod, seeing mom with no shower curtain. Right now I am busy unbolting the kitchen table, so I've got to run - bye bye!!
