No matter what kind of birds you have, be they finches, parakeets, pheasants, parrots, penquins, eagles, ostriches, ducks, quail or any other kind of bird, the ASA offers tried and true methods regarding how to keep and care for that bird...and probably how to breed it, too. That's because members of the ASA are currently keeping and breeding virtually every type of bird found in aviculture. This information is in print so you can study it at your leisure and go back to it time and time again. You can apply it directly to your birds.
There are many benefits to belonging to the ASA. There is the very enjoyable social aspect where many members meet monthly in Southern California to listen to experts talk about birds. Many meetings are held at the magnificent collections that are closed to the public. There are outstanding raffles and auctions where one has a chance to win beautiful birds and other valuable items. You can participate with the ASA in avian research and in various conservation efforts. Through correspondence and visits, you can develop a worldwide network of friends.
Perhaps most important of all, you can do things that are good for the birds you love - things that are tangible and measurable for the birds in the wild as well as those in aviculture. Consider species such as the Scarlet-chested Parakeet, the California Condor, the Black-hooded Red Siskin, the Nene Goose, and many others where there are probably more individuals in our aviaries than exist in the wild. Aviculturists have saved these species from almost certain extinction.
Join the Avicultural Society of America and become a part of one of the oldest, most prestigious and most effective bird societies in America.
